davies park

davies park, originally uploaded by Rick McGrath.
This park on Avenue Road was named after Canadian Writer Roberston Davies.
All of Toronto's municipal parks have this same design of sign.

Flashback to Toronto in Spring
I like the juxtaposition of the old building and the new ones in the background.

Toronto Halloween costume - cat?
I thought this was a Nittany Lion - the mascot of Penn State. That's a Pennsylvania mountain lion and not like an African Lion. Anyway, I showed it to my husband and he said it was just someone dressed up as a cat, even though it has a Penn State hat. He said if it was a Nittany Lion they would have a Penn State sweatshirt or something.

Church Street Halloween
Church Street is where the big Halloween party is in Toronto, sort of like when I lived in San Francisco and everyone would go down to Castro Street.
Extreme Decorations
Bertmount Ave. house decorated for Halloween. This house is decorated all year long too, but they throw a few more things on for Halloween.

Mira Sorvino at Toronto International Film Festival
It's that time of year again, TIFF time. A lot of people are really into celebrity watching and go nuts at the film festival. There's probably some people who just like films who show up here too. But I'm not that into movies, or watching famous people and I tend to avoid all that sort of stuff. Even if I did like films I hate waiting in lines!
But a lot of people I know are very excited about seeing celebrities and go out of their way to wait in crowds. So I'm glad my friends are happy.
This photo is from last year.
